We're not just growing fruit—we're growing a movement.

Hi! We're Linval and Khalilah Maragh, a husband-and-wife team from the beautiful island of Jamaica, now living in Palm Bay, Florida.

A few years ago, we looked at our ordinary half-acre backyard and asked ourselves: What if this could feed our family instead of just growing grass?

So we got to work.

Today, that same space has become a thriving tropical food forest filled with mangoes, avocados, soursop, lychee, jackfruit, medicinal herbs, pollinator plants, and dozens of other edible treasures. What started as a personal journey has grown into The Island Gardeners—a place where we help others reconnect with nature, grow their own food, and live a little more sustainably.

It All Started in Jamaica

Long before food forests became popular, Linval was learning to farm from his grandfather on the family's farm in St. Catherine, Jamaica.

He wasn't just taught how to plant. He was taught patience, respect for the land, the value of sharing a harvest, and the belief that if you take care of the earth, it will take care of you.

Those lessons crossed the ocean with us and became the roots of everything we do today.

Why We Do This
